Sim Replacement

Yes, you can replace your MTN SIM in a few simple steps! Here are some basics to remember before we begin the process.

Please note that an MTN SIM can only be swapped on the following grounds:

  • If it is faulty
  • If it is damaged, stolen or lost
  • If it is obsolete (but eligible for replacement or an upgrade)
  • Any other legitimate reason or condition apart from those above.

Minimum requirements for Sim Replacement/Swap

  1. The phone number must be registered.
  2. Please provide the SIM pack or other evidence of direct purchase/ownership. Where SIM pack is unavailable, a sworn affidavit attesting to ownership and loss is required.
  3. The applicant must provide the following:
    1. Three (3) frequently-dialled numbers
    2. Details of last recharge activities.
    3. A valid form of photo ID, defined as International Passport, Driver’s License, National ID Card, Voters Identification Card (NINs slip with ID number are also accepted).

Authorised Representative

Where the SIM owner is unavailable, an authorized representative can complete the SIM swap on his/her behalf.

This person requires the following:

  1. A sworn affidavit by SIM owner detailing reasons for replacement, reasons for inability to carry-out replacement in person.
  2. A copy of subscriber’s ID
  3. A valid photo ID of proxy.

  • You will be required to purchase a new SIM Card, where the MSISDN of the old SIM Card would be transferred.
  • You are also required to complete The SIM REPLACEMENT FORM and provide the following details:

      5. Residential Address:
      6. Nationality:
      7. State of Origin:

      Data-only SIM
      (You must provide two (2) of the following)
      1. Last recharge amount and date:
      2. Name of internet bundle value activated and data allowance allocated:
      3. Last three (3) websites visited:
